A Message from Executive Director Vicki Schultz
This week’s election has left many of us with a profound sense of urgency and concern about the future of justice in our country. It raises serious questions about how the new administration’s agenda will impact all of us, especially those experiencing poverty and the most vulnerable among us—the very clients and communities we have served for more than one hundred years at Maryland Legal Aid.
However, despite these real feelings and legitimate concerns, this is not a time for retreat or despair.
Our clients depend on us to navigate legal battles, stay housed, access healthcare, secure food and income benefits, and seek protection from abuse. We have weathered policy changes, funding cuts, and moments of great challenge before and we will do so again in solidarity with our community and with your help.
We remain committed to the fundamental human dignity of every person. That drives our work, and we will continue to fight for the rights and needs of our clients no matter the challenges.
In these uncertain times with much at stake, we are grateful for your continued support and that you stand together with us now and in the future to ensure dignity, equity and justice for all.
In solidarity,
Vicki Schultz
Executive Director
Maryland Legal Aid
