Richard “Ricky” Adams, Esq.


Richard L. Adams, who joined the Maryland Legal Aid Board of Directors in 2023, is currently a Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at Wilmington Trust, N.A., where he oversees the fiduciary needs of significant personal trust clients across the U.S., ensuring trust terms are prudently managed and administered. With over 20 years in legal services, Richard has expertise in estate planning, trust administration, long-term care planning, and special needs planning. Before joining Wilmington Trust in 2022, he practiced law in Baltimore for nearly five years, following a decade as a paralegal in his field. He holds a Certificate in Estate Planning and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law, along with a bachelor’s degree in legal studies and gerontology from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Admitted to the bar in 2017, Richard is actively involved in the Maryland State Bar Association, serving on the Estate & Trust Law Section Council, as well as the Bar Association of Baltimore City. He is also engaged with the Maryland LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, the Baltimore Provider Council, and the Baltimore Estate Planning Council.
