Lee Heithoff graduated from Creighton University Law School in 2001 and began his legal career as a staff attorney for Iowa Legal Aid. In 2006, he became the Managing Attorney for the Southwest Iowa Regional Office in Council Bluffs, where he developed community collaborations to address service gaps for low-income families, particularly children. He worked with social service agencies and schools to create programs providing legal assistance to homeless individuals and at-risk youth and their families, and initiated Iowa’s first Medical Legal Partnership with hospitals in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area. In 2015, Lee was promoted to Deputy Director at Iowa Legal Aid, helping manage the statewide program. Currently, Lee serves as Chief Attorney for Maryland Legal Aid’s Southern Maryland Office, where he continues his focus on at-risk youth and their families, supervising the CINA program and providing legal representation throughout the CINA process, including termination of parental rights, adoptions, and appeals to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
